1965 - The New Cathedral - thumbs down!

You can't please all of the people all of the time! Coventry's New Cathedral courted a lot of controversy around the time it was first built, back in the early 1960's. It seems that the people who saw it fell into two distinct camps - they either loved it, or they hated it - nothing much in between!

Unlike the previous card, however, the building featuring in this postcard gets a rather negative review.

A Postcard from Coventry.

Postcard text: McH doesn't very much like new Cathedral! Just off to Armorial Rd to see the old house.

In this case, the sender doesn't give their own opinion, but that of someone referred to as "McH". Perhaps she was one of the few who didn't have a strong feeling for or against the cathedral - or maybe just preoccupied with visiting her old house in Armorial Road?
