John E Clarke OBE is an amateur local historian who for the past 60 years, since his early schooldays, has researched the previously lost history of Caludon Castle in Wyken, Coventry.

Over the past 12 years John published the first ever book on the complete history of Caludon Castle, co-funded a resistivity survey which revealed the foundations of the castle, commissioned a scale model of the castle (c1590), organised with the Herbert History Centre a two-month exhibition of Caludon's history, and more recently produced a 44-minute film documentary entitled The Lost History of Caludon Castle, which was launched on YouTube in October in 2024.
