Bearing in mind Coventry's current city centre, full of tarmac, conctrete, buses, the hustle-bustle of modern life.... who would've predicted this picture of serenity in the centre of one of Britain's principal cities, just two centuries earlier?
Engraved from a drawing by Henry Jeayes, this image was published in a well known book called The Beauties of England and Wales in 1809. The artist would have been sited not far from Swanswell Pool.
